Melbourne Womens Walking Club transparent Background 300x300

The Melbourne Women’s Walking Club (MWWC) has been welcoming women walkers for over 100 years, having celebrated its centenary in 2022. We have over 300 members with walks of different levels, duration and location accessing Melbourne and Victoria almost every week. We are volunteers helping to run a vibrant club for our community.

The club's primary focus is bushwalking with walks of various types, grades, and distances. Activities include day walks, backpacking, base camping and accommodation trips. Members can also participate in urban walks, cycling, and conservation work. Regular social activities and a training program in bushwalking and leadership skills are offered to members. A list of upcoming activities can be viewed by clicking on Scheduled Activities under the Activities tab. For confidentiality reasons, a description of the activity which includes details of the route, meeting place, time and leader's contact details have been withheld. These details will be available to prospective members when they register on the website. For more information about joining the club, please click How to Join in the top menu.

New members are welcome. Before they are eligible for membership, prospective members are required to participate in two qualifying walks of at least 12 km in length within three months of each other. Prospective members are welcome to join any regular club walks within their capabilities, although not Medium-Hard (MH) or Hard (H) for their first walk unless they are experienced bushwalkers. In the sidebar listing of Upcoming Activites, qualifying walks are signified by 'QW'.

Newcomers’ walks are held in February, May, August and November. These provide a great opportunity to meet other newcomers as well as more experienced members of the club and learn more about bushwalking and how the club operates. The next Newcomers' Walk is scheduled for 19 May at Brisbane Ranges National Park and the following one for 18 August at Christmas Hills. For more information about joining the club, please click How to Join in the top menu.

Membership fee is $55 per year.
