 This easy paced walk on mo
 stly formed paths\, just under 12 kms\, takes us through some surprising l
 andscapes between Altona and Williamstown beaches. Nestled within this urb
 an environment are internationally recognised wetlands\, home to resident 
 and migratory shorebirds\, mangrove habitat\, saltmarshes\, mudflats and m
 ore. With great views of the bay\, we walk the new Altona pier\, take in J
 awbone Marine Sanctuary and other historic sites.
 Bring along water\, mo
 rning tea and lunch\, binoculars could be handy. For those interested\, we
  can stop at a café for refreshments before heading home from Williamstow
 n Beach station.
 We will meet outside Altona Railway Station\, on the so
 uth side at 9:20am. A train on the Werribee Line leaves Flinders Street St
 ation (Platform 10) at 8:47am and is scheduled to arrive at Altona at 9:16
 am. Toilets at nearby reserve. For anyone interested in driving\, parking 
 is available at Newport railway station\, convenient junction on the Werri
 bee and Williamstown train line
