 This walk offers a chance 
 to put on your tourist cap and visit one of Melbourne’ historic houses a
 nd a trip to Herring Island in the Yarra. Como House was named after Lake 
 Como in Italy. It provides a glimpse into aristocratic life in 19th- and 2
 0th-century Melbourne. It was once a lavish home for the Armytage family a
 nd a popular venue for high society events. Today it offers a chance to en
 joy the gardens and view the restoration works happening.&nbsp\;
 After a
  visit and stroll around Como House we will walk through Como Park\, past 
 the 1930s cricket pavilion towards the Yarra River for a coffee stop. Clos
 e by is the punt to Herring Island Environmental Sculpture Park.&nbsp\; He
 rring Island was created in 1928 with a unique history\, as the only islan
 d on the Yarra River. The island contains a Sculpture Trail with nine scul
 ptures hidden in the bushland.
 A return to the mainland provides options
  to head home or follow the path along the riverbank downstream to the Roy
 al Botanic gardens\, Federation Square and Flinders Street Station.&nbsp\;
 
 Options for transport to Como House include car pooling\, or public tra
 nsport with South Yarra station being 1.8km along Toorak Road.&nbsp\;'If r
 equired\, please arrange carpooling yourself once the booking date closes.
  Carpooling fee $5.
 The meeting place for the walk will be in the ground
 s of Como House at 10am and the walk will end at Como House.
