SUMMARY:Bellarine Peninsula - Queenscliff to Barwon Heads
DESCRIPTION:{show accesslevels=\"Registered\"}Come and walk the southern co
 rner of the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula from the historic town of Queens
 cliff to the holiday town of Barwon Heads\, made famous by the tv program 
 Seachange. This 18km walk begins at the Queenscliff White Lighthouse besid
 e the Queenscliff Fort. We then journey along the \"Lovers' Walk\"\, a pro
 tected sandy path behind the sand dunes. At Springs Beach\, we move down t
 o the seawall path which we follow to the town of Point Lonsdale where we 
 will enjoy morning tea. Making our way from the town to the 'Lonnie' Light
 house\, we have the opportunity to view this lighthouse up close before jo
 urneying down onto the beach for an approximate 8km walk along the beach t
 o Ocean Grove. For twitchers there are plentiful seabirds to observe on th
 is stretch including the endangered hooded plover. We will stop for lunch 
 along the beach\, allowing for a dip in the ocean to cool off if the weath
 er allows. At Ocean Grove we exit the beach and follow the walk/bike path 
 along the ocean front to the Barwon Heads bridge to finish at the carpark 
 in front of the Barwon Heads Hotel.
 Poles are not necessary but some may
  find them useful on the beach stretch. Bring morning tea\, lunch and suff
 icient water for the conditions. There are opportunities to collect more w
 ater at Point Lonsdale and Ocean Grove.
 Toilets are available at Barwon 
 Heads\, Queenscliff\, Point Lonsdale and Ocean Grove and at some other poi
 nts along the beach.
 Meeting place: Carpark beside bridge in front of Ba
 rwon Heads Hotel. If this is full there is more parking on the other side

 Meeting time: 8:30am
 We will then combine into enough 
 cars to travel the 30 minutes to Queenscliff to begin the walk.

 rrange carpooling yourself after the bookings close. Carpool costs are $20
