SUMMARY:Basic First Aid Course

 MWWC has organised a basic
  first aid course for members that covers a range of medical issues in a s
 tructured way and provides simple\, straightforward instructions for deali
 ng with them.
 Please note that completion of this course does not oblige
  you to provide first aid on a club activity. If you do however\, you are 
 only expected to do the best you can and are indemnified by the club again
 st any adverse outcome.

 urday 14th June (4 hours)\, also pre-study of approximately 4 hours.

 ue: St John Ambulance CBD Training Centre\, King Street\, Melbourne.
 Cou
 rse content: Common medical conditions and emergencies are covered. Practi
 ce performing CPR\, applying bandages etc is provided. Issues of particula
 r concern to bushwalkers like snake bite\, heat stroke\, dehydration\, and
  hypothermia are also covered.
 Mode: A half-day of self-study (with revi
 ew questions) must be successfully completed before attending the half-day
  classroom session for the practical component of the course. The pre-lear
 ning uses a range of videos. The classroom session uses a mixture of pract
 ical exercises and video. You are required to take a questionnaire on the 
 course content during the classroom session.
 What to bring: Smart phone

 
 Cost: $55 per member. St John charges $195 per person\, however Bushwalk
 ing Victoria and MWWC together are providing a subsidy of $140 per person.
 
 The course was over-subscribed last year so we are running it again thi
 s year (usually 2-yearly). Sixteen members undertook the course last year 
 and found the information very well presented and invaluable.

 y the MWWC treasurer $55 with a clear description\, e.g. ‘your name firs

 ication\, e.g. Jane Smith-first aid. Payment is required to secure your pl
 ace on the course.
