BEGIN:VCALENDAR VERSION:2.0 PRODID:Events Booking BEGIN:VEVENT UID:69dd20ce282d6 SUMMARY:Glasgow Track & Surrounds DESCRIPTION:{show accesslevels=\"Registered\"}A challenging circular walk a pproximately 19km with lots of steep ups and downs – cumulatively around 1000 metres up and 1000 metres down. It can be slippery\, especially afte r rain\, so poles required. \; We begin up a steep suburban road to th e base of the Glasgow Fire trail/Scar track. \; The rough track heads steeply including large rocks to negotiate along the way. Once at the top\ , the walk will pass Burkes Lookout (with views across Melbourne on a clea r day) and follow the Zig Zag and Channel Ten Tracks to a loop including a narrow steep uphill track onto the Viola track before taking the Dandenon g Creek Track and on to the Doongalla Homestead for lunch. Toilets availab le at this point. After lunch\, our walk will involve a lot of ascents and descents along the Camelia Track as we cut across the mountain to the nor thern end for a final very steep 400 metre ascent up the Observatory Track . We will then make our way back to the vehicles via mostly downhill track s (with a few slight undulations). \; As an H grade walk\, it will b e both challenging and lengthy\, requiring a solid pace throughout the day and therefore suitable for experienced MH / H walkers. Meet at gravel c arpark at corner of Sheffield and Glasgow Rds\, Kilsyth at 8am for an 8.15 am start. No toilet facilities at meeting point. There is limited parkin g so please arrange carpooling yourself once booking date closes.
