SUMMARY:Spotswood to Williamstown via The Warmies

 This easy paced flat walk\
 , around 10 kms on mostly formed paths\, takes us through inner urban stre
 ets and industrial landscapes\, well preserved heritage precincts\, along 
 the Yarra River and great bay and city views throughout. From Spotswood St
 ation we head toward Stony Creek Backwash\, with its unique mangrove setti
 ng under the towering Westgate bridge. We catch the sea air\, following th
 e bay coastal trail\, taking in the ‘The Warmies’ and ‘Sandy Point N
 ature Reserve’ preserved for its bird habitat before landing at the hist
 oric Williamstown precinct.
 We will break at the lovely Commonwealth Res
 erve\, taking in Williamstown’s fascinating maritime past and present\, 
 wander Nelson Place and nearby sites before travelling home from Williamst
 own Station.
 Bring water\, morning tea\, lunch and maybe a reusable cup 
 if interested in buying a coffee while taking in the bay views.
 We will 
 meet outside Spotswood Station on Hall St side at 9.45am for a 10.00am sta
 rt. A train on the Werribee Line leaves Flinders Street Station at 9.27am 
 scheduled to arrive at Spotswood at 9.44am. If arriving from the other dir
 ection a train is due at Spotswood Station at 9.35am. For anyone driving t
 here is some parking in streets along the railway line north side of the s
 tation.
