SUMMARY:Mt Macedon Circuit Walk
DESCRIPTION:{show accesslevels=\"Registered\"}This is a 20.4km circuit most
 ly on the Macedon Ranges Walking Trail.
 The circuit walk offers differen
 t terrain\, roads\, fire tracks\, 4WD\, and a lot of single file tracks. T
 he forest is varied with a mix of indigenous and exotic trees which provid
 e pleasant walking even in the depth of winter. From Douglas Road we comme
 nce up the steep south-western face of Mt Macedon. The track twists about 
 a fair bit and when wet can be quite slippery underfoot. The climb is 2km 
 and gets the heart pumping. At the top we reach the Memorial Cross and on 
 a bright day further around is the Western Lookout and views below. Camels
  Hump has a shorter steep uphill and steep cliffs seen through the trees a
 re favoured by rock climbers. Mt Towrong provides a path twisting through 
 forest then crossing a steep rocky area. The forest opens out here to perm
 it views across Mt Macedon before resuming its downwards plunge.
 The wal
 k will take about 7 hours with an elevation gain of about 747m.

 T&nbsp\;There are plenty of undulations and difficulties which will give y
 ou your cardiac workout for the day.
 Please wear proper hiking boots/sho
 es with good tread. Hiking poles recommended if used.
 Meeting place: Dou
 glas Road turning left from Mt Macedon Road. There is a side area off the 
 road for parking.
 Meet at 8.30am for an 8.45am start.
