SUMMARY:Darebin Parklands Heritage and Nature Trail

 Meet at 9.30am at Alphingt
 on railway station\, Platform 2\, for this 5 kilometre wander around the D
 arebin Parklands Heritage and Nature Trail. Darebin Parklands is a bushlan
 d oasis in the middle of urban Melbourne with unique flora\, fauna\, geogr
 aphy and historical sites. The walk is mostly on formed paths although the
 re are some gravelly sections where walking poles may be helpful. The walk
  includes just one moderate incline\, which is not very long\, and we can 
 take our time to traverse it. There is one creek crossing with large stepp
 ing stones. A toilet block is located approximately 10 minutes’ walk fro
 m the station.
 If coming by car\, there is a car park at the railway sta
 tion but on a weekday you may have to park in a nearby street. Passenger c
 ontribution is $5.00 if car-pooling. Please arrange car-pooling yourself o
 r contact me for assistance.
 After the walk\, you can either head for ho
 me or join me for lunch at the Area52 Café\, which is opposite the railwa
 y station. The café has a good outdoor area\, which is covered – should
  the weather be less than perfect. When booking\, please advise whether yo
 u plan to stay on for lunch\, so that I can make an accurate reservation a
 t the café.&nbsp\; Bookings close on Monday 2 March.
