SUMMARY:Plenty Gorge Sth Morang
DESCRIPTION:{show accesslevels=\"Registered\"}
 Despite its length\, this
11-kilometre walk is on the medium side of easy-medium. We will follow the
AllTrails Yellow Gum Circuit\, with some extensions. The walk mainly foll
ows shared walking/bike trails which are well formed\, but with some moder
ate ascents and descents\, including for three creek crossings. One of the
creek bridges is quite narrow and so requires some balance. Less steady w
alkers may want to rest their hands on the shoulders of the walker in fron
t of them. Towards the end of the walk\, another crossing requires you to
walk or shuffle across a fallen log that has some wooden steps nailed to i
 t. Alternatively\, you can paddle the creek and put up with wet feet for t
he last half hour of the walk. &nbsp\;Overall elevation gain is 290 metres
 .
The path passes mainly through wooded areas\, although there is some o
pen grassland. The vegetation becomes greener and lusher as we head South
towards the Plenty River. On the day of the scout we saw and heard quite a
  few birds including galahs\, rainbow lorikeets\, cockatoos\, magpies\, an
 d another small blue/green/red parrot.
To get to the starting point\, dr
ive to the Blue Lake Plenty Gorge car park (drive right to the end of the
road). Then walk 50 metres to a picnic area on the right\, where there are
public toilets. The walk will start from the picnic area at 9.30.
 Poles
and sturdy walking boots are recommended. Bring lunch and morning tea\, a
nd perhaps a snack for the end of the walk. You should also bring at least
  2 litres of water.
Please arrange carpooling yourself once the booking
 date closes. Carpooling fee $10.
