SUMMARY:Fitzroy History Walk and Pub Lunch
DESCRIPTION:{show accesslevels=\"Registered\"}Fitzroy\, on land the Wurundj
 eri (Woiwurrung) people lived and worked on for millennia before contact\,
  became the first and smallest suburb of Melbourne in 1858. It has a rich 
 cultural and architectural history\, and is now the most complete reposito
 ry of Gold Rush-era bluestone buildings in Melbourne. This walk of approxi
 mately 1.5 hours will take us through quiet backstreets and lanes to sampl
 e some of that architecture\, but will also give pause to reflect on Fitzr
 oy's diverse social history. Sturdy footvwear is required as we wiil be wa
 lking on bluestone-cobbled lanes at times.&nbsp\;
 After the walk we will
  lunch in the &nbsp\;private dining room of the Rainbow Hotel\, one of Fit
 zroy's historic pubs. The Rainbow has an extensive menu that should suit m
 ost tastes and budgets.
 Meet in front of the fountain at the Nicholson S
 treet\, Carlton entrance of the Royal Exhibition Building at 10.15am for a
 10.30am start. To get there\, walk from Parliament station or take the No.
 96 or No.88 tram from Bourke Street and alight at the Melbourne Museum sto
 p (Stop 11). For the return trip\, take a tram from Brunswick Street\, a s
 hort walk from the Rainbow.&nbsp\;
