 This is a 
 pleasant day walk in an area of the Yarra Valley that has not been explore
 d by the club in recent years. Much of the area is State Forest. While par
 t of the track covers areas subject to recent controlled burns\, these pro
 vide an interesting juxtaposition against the indigenous eucalypt forest w
 ith remnant tree ferns\, and views of tree-lined ridges and verdant valley
 s. There are two very steep\, long hills early in the day\, with inclinati
 ons up to 30-40 degrees - these proved challenging in the wet conditions o
 n the scout\, with slippery clay underfoot - poles are a must! Participant
 s will need a reasonable level of fitness and strength for the hills. The 
 majority of the walk is on 4wd tracks\, with some short on-road walking to
  link the sections.&nbsp\; Other highlights include an extensive apple orc
 hard (with heavily-laden trees on the scout) and a beautiful stand of larg
 e manna gums on the home stretch.
 We will meet at Gladysdale Recreation 
 Reserve (Cnr Yarra Junction-Noojee Rd and Pettitt Road\, Gladysdale) at 8.
 30 am. Single toilet available at Gladysdale\, but larger facilities are a
 vailable on the way at Yarra Junction. Due to limited parking at the start
  of the walk we will arrange a car pool from the meeting point to the trai
 lhead. Please arrange own car pooling to the meeting point once bookings c
 lose. Carpool fee is $15 per passenger.
